Quote
Atlanta Hawks receive: Kristaps Porzingis, Sam Hauser, Svi Mykhailiuk, 2025 2nd round pick (via UTA, from DAL), 2025 2nd round pick (via UTA, from LAC)

Boston Celtics receive: Terance Mann, Walker Kessler, 2025 1st round pick (via ATL, from LAL)

Utah Jazz receive: Georges Niang, 2025 1st round pick (via BOS), 2026 2nd round pick (via BOS)

Two others that I could think of maybe involving Utah alone:

1. Kessler, Sensabaugh + Sexton for Porzingis + 2 future first rounders

2. A straight swap of John Collins and Porzingis (saves BOS approximately 4M, more in lux tax)

Thoughts? I am also operating under the belief that Hauser and his 10M gets dumped this offseason to a team like Miami or Sacramento (one that could use a 3-point specialist)

I don't think UTA does the SI trade.  That is not enough to give up Kessler.  Your idea of trading for John Collins is interesting.  He is only 27, had a good statistical year (19 pts / 8 rebs / 39.9% from 3).  Had a season +/- of -16, so nearly neutral on the season, on a team that was -766 overall on the season.  I would still be a little gun shy about him.  He had a great first few season, an all star I believe, but then just disappeared.  He had a bounce back year, at least statistically.

I don't think UTA does that trade for Collins without some compensation.  They would then likely try to flip Porzingis for even more picks.

Sexton intrigues me as a long term replacement for Jrue. A different type of combo guard. A scoring one rather than an all-round one.

I don't feel confident in my evaluation of Sexton's defense though. It looks much improved from his days in CLE when he was one of the worst defenders in the league but some of advanced stats for defense are still very poor. I haven't seen Utah enough to know either way.

He does intrigue me though. Offensively, I think he would complement the Jays and D-White nicely.

I like the idea though not just in terms of shedding some salary, but it could complete our roster even after the trade(s). Kessler is our big of the future, maybe with Kornet/Queta as depth. Sexton isn't perfect but can fit in with White and the Jays IMO, and Sensabaugh isn't a bad bench guy. Him and Scheierman off the bench with Pritchard ain't bad.

Even if Sexton is poor defensively, I don't mind having one guy like that if he can score which Sexton is capable of. We'd probably take a hit anyways on defense even if we trade one of KP/Jrue this offseason so might as well bite the bullet.

The Jazz are an interesting possibility. I know they have KP as the one being traded, but they reportedly tried to trade for Jrue 2 years ago when we ultimately ended up with him. Being signed for 3 more years might give a team like the Jazz more incentive to make a move.

No, he likely won't bring a championship, but he does bring with him a culture of winning and professionalism. Not great for Jrue necessarily, but really great for a younger team trying to create a new identity.

C'mon Danny, Kevin McHale took one for the team in 2007. It's your turn now...

I read another idea of JB to Houston for Amen Thompson and of course whatever filler is needed.

I'm not sure I like that.

I'd be more inclined to offer JB, if I was going to trade him, to Danny in Utah, only after Utah wins the lottery, so I could draft Flagg!

I'll be real, I would NOT move Jaylen. But if it came down to it, there's only two trades I'd consider. One which you also mention, a deal with Utah involving this year's #1 if they get it, and maybe another piece from their team like Sexton/Kessler since some salary needs to be moved.

The other one would be a Giannis trade. It works as a swap, and I think BOS technically saves 6M from that move (a lot more in luxury tax).

I love Amen Thompson but I'm not really a fan of these moves though where we're trading Jaylen for glorified role players or maybe just one young starter who has some flaws. I can make an exception for Flagg because he is a generational prospect at PF/C. Otherwise, even some of these ideas with DET, ORL, etc. I'm not entirely on board.

But ultimately I would still keep Jaylen. However, if they do get bounced this round I think it definitely gets considered.

I have a a tough time knowing where to value Jaylen.

At times, it feels as if his value is comparable to a regular All-Star or even borderline All-Star level players. At other times, it is like he is a top 15 player in the league. When that defense + offense combo are working at a high level together. And he can take his game to a higher level than other All-Star / borderline All-Star players are capable of. It doesn't happen that often but is does happen in big games.

We're paying a guy $300M who has zero handles skills and always turning the ball over and seems to be blindly dribbling into traffic. I'm ready to move on from him. Give me Giannis or give me some glorified role players to support team.

Maybe this would break whatever pressure/hold-back/passiveness this team has between the Jays. Maybe there can only be one Jay on this team and no more of this your turn/my turn offense.
