I give him credit. He's been great in his role over the past month and at times makes veteran plays which helps the team.

I think the people who are still "disappointed" are expecting him to be scoring and making plays like Bertans/Burks without realizing their scoring averages come from playing a lot of minutes a game on bad teams. Wanamaker only plays between 8-15 minutes a game usually.

Worth noting though that so far in February, he's played about 23 minutes a game and is averaging 10/3 on 48% shooting.

Yeah, Brad is averaging 12.6 points, 5.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds per 36 minutes is solid production for a PG, starting or bench.  And he scores at an efficient 55.5% TS% rate.   His TOV% could be a bit lower but it isn't terrible for a PG and he makes almost zero 'dumb' mistakes.

I really don't get the folks crying to replace him.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Wanamaker is a pretty good backup PG. Would I prefer George Hill Or Lou Williams? Of course, but so would almost every team in the league.

He's ok. That's really it. He's a solid shooter, good at the FT line, and has the ability to be a strong 1 on 1 defender. He's also a solid finisher.

However, he's not a good passer and his team defence is sometimes quite suspect. But, he's a backup who doesn't even play 20MPG. Not going to be perfect.

Is just ok at several things

Not quick nor explosive

But has a strong body and can guard multiple positions

I like him.

Just dont ask him to do too much.

a 10 to 15 min guy off the bench is great for him, gives you solid defense and can shoot the three ball.

Does anyone ever get the feeling that he's sometimes a ballhog?  I always see him just drive it in or shoot it, when there is someone else waiting in the corner with a better shot.  When he makes it, I let it slide but it drives me crazy when he misses.

Yeah its a common complaint against him.

I do not see that at all.

I am not a fan of him either for the ballhog reason, but he has played well for us at times this year and probably even won us a game or two.

This is worth a re-visit.

Has your opinion of Wanamaker changed over the last couple of months? Mine has. He is pretty darn good back up for us.  Nothing flashy, but plays both ends of court quite well, and stays within the schemes.

I am not a fan because he does not make the people around him better.

If third string PGs could make players around them better, they wouldn't be third stringers.

Kind of sums up my feelings. And can handle 20-25 minutes when we have guys hurt, without hurting our team's production.

He's certainly out-peforming his contract.   Not intending to be faint praise either. Given our salary constraints (With Tatum signing max for next season, we will have 3 max and one near max (Brown)), having a guy as productive as Brad with as low a contract is very helpful.

Wanamaker is fine as a third string PG. he just looks bad as a second string PG and that is just because of injuries.

He’s fine for what his contract is and for what role he has on the team. Besides, would you rather have a higher quality player as a 3rd string PG or Kanter as our first big off the bench?
