It's way too early to tell.  We need to see what happens with the extra draft pick that Atlanta acquired.  Doncic is the safer bet to become a perennial All-NBA caliber player.  In a vacuum we would need to see Young approach Curry's level of shooting in order to beat out Doncic.

Too early to tell.  I think Doncic will end up being the better pro but there's uncertainty to the gap.

It's also not fair to judge the trade solely on Doncic v. Young since you still need to factor in with what happens with the first round pick the Hawks got in the deal which I believe is only top 5 protected this year.

Player to player though, I'm still taking Doncic.

Trey looking better lately, and Luka worse by my eyes.  Luka seems to have a weight issue, and can't afford to, since he is not very quick, and it seems to slow him down even more. Trey's 3 point range is Steph like, and his PG skills are underrated.

Did ATL also get an unprotected 1st round pick? That could be the difference.

Too early, they’re still improving. DAL pick (top 5 protected this season) currently in the #7-8 slot.

#2-5 picks from last draft (range which Lakers pick would have needed to land to convey) all look really promising

Too early to tell would be my vote, but it’s not a poll option.

Luka also at times cant generate his own shot or stuck in a scoring rut if playing against a certain defender/system

Young has less of this issue though he sometimes has the Marcus Morris mentality and throws up some ill advised shots

But between the two Young has an elite skill (shooting). Underrated pg skills

Luka is solid all around. Good passer. But Mavs will need an elite scorer to complement his game

won't know for sure until that extra pick conveys but at the moment, I think Doncic is the superior player.  if that player selected with the future pick turns out to be good-starter quality, I think the Hawks win.

while the circumstances may be similar to the Tatum/Fultz swap, the fact Fultz has already been jettisoned by Philly and we still get Sac's pick this year makes this a major win for the C's.

Doncic is better and younger. I think the difference is more than most non-premium lottery picks.

I don’t think this one is close, as Doncic is clearly the better player. That extra pick will have to be special for Atlanta to win this trade. Young is a very good player, but Doncic is that special type of player that has the potential to be elite.

I don’t have ESPN Insider, but they listed the top 25 players under age 25 and I remember seeing the list posted here: https://forum.celticsstrong.com/index.php?topic=99294.0. Doncic was ranked #6, two spots ahead of Tatum.

If Hawks nail the pick they receive, it could be close.

I just don’t see Trai as a cornerstone like Doncic could be. He just screams poor mans AI (more of a shooter obviously, but really just an inefficient scorer who is very turnover-prone), and I don’t think that will get you far in today’s game.

I get why the Hawks did what they did, but Doncic was the play there. I won’t put it on the level of the Tatum-Fultz trade, but it wasn’t a very good one IMO.
