I suspect Indiana would say no. I feel as though they really don't want to move Sabonis, and would prefer to move Turner.

Not sure if that's actually true, but that's just the gut feeling I have.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I read just the opposite. There’d be a lot more interest around the league in Turner and they’ve told teams he’s not available.

Interesting. I just thought that with Sabonis' impending RFA they'd probably want to keep him, not to mention that he produces a considerable amount more than Turner does in terms of scoring, rebounding and passing.

I'd love Sabonis, but giving up Brown would really hurt

Indiana says no. Even Memphis says no deal to that low ball offer. They do not want their pick associated with such a heist.

  • STAND FIRM, SAY NO TO VIBE MEN
The Celtics. Why are we trading Brown when there's no guarantee that Hayward will return to All-Star form? A star wing duo of Brown/Tatum is a very attractive proposition that we should not give up easily. Just use the room exception and whatever cap space we can salvage to sign a couple of big men to fill out the frontcourt, and tell Brad to stay away from starting one of Hayward/Tatum at PF unless we're facing very small teams.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

I can see Boston working out a trade for Sabonis, but I seriously doubt that Brown would be included. Until the Celtics see what they've got in Hayward and Langford, I think they need Brown. Same goes for Smart. If they're going to trade for Sabonis now it will probably involve a rookie or 2 and future pick(s). If Indy doesn't want to negotiate with Sabonis, this is the time to move him. They've already commited to Turner and they don't like them paired together.

Sabonis worth more than that pick? I don't think so. It's an overpay. But then again they do have to take Yabu...

This is a drastic under valuation of Sabonis. He’s a good young player. For a big, he’s a great passer and can score/rebound. He’d cost more than a pick but I don’t think Indy has any interest in trading him.

I've seen this proposed elsewhere;
Langford & Milwaukee 2020 pick for Sabonis. Something like that.
It gives Indiana 2 prospects on rookie deals for Sabonis. Indiana's backcourt is depleted. Collison retired and Oladipo is out till Dec. Langford won't be buried on the depth chart like he is in Boston, plus he's an Indy guy.

Sabonis will be a RFA, same as Brown. You have the same problem with him.

Brown getting a $25M deal won’t be a hindrance if he’s playing great.

Agree. I wouldn’t do it either. Wonder if they’d take Langford, Edwards, Yabusele  and Bucks pick for Sabonis? I doubt it, but would give them a lot of future cost control.

As I've said in other threads where this was discussed, I'd do Brown for Sabonis and wouldn't even need the pick back.  Sabonis is a monster in the making and is a big man.  Something that is harder to find and way more a position of need.  They are basically the same age and have the same contract situation as well.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
