You're wrong.  He quite because it became a toxic work environment.  Maybe you would want to work with the sleazeball that cheated on your daughter and impregnated another woman, most people would not.

Doc showed great character sticking it out for the season, and did the right thing for the team by doing so, but I have no doubts he was blind-sided when Kawhi made it known he would only come if they brought in a star and the only star he could convince to come was Paul George.

People pretending this wasn't the real reason have their heads in the sand.

Lol at first I read the thread title thinking it was a player, but then thought, "wait isn't Ty Lue a coach now" and now it makes sense

Makes sense. Don't need to shake things up too much, but Doc had to answer for his failures as head coach. Their failure as a unit will help motivate them moving forward.

You really do go to the greatest of lengths to defend Rivers, even though he was obviously and rightfully going to be fired, because he fails as a coach much more often than he succeeds

lol for all this they should've stayed with Doc.

If Ty Lue can't get them past LAL then LAC will become the NBA's Swamp land by next year at this time - with Kawhi opting out and same with PG13??

My goodness it was a GREAT run....CP3, Blake, DeAndre.......Kawhi, PG13...awesome bench.....

Didn't Lawrence Frank build Doc's teams?

Stay tuned.

Can't have reality ruin those narratives about Crybaby Doc, Gouki!  ;D

On a serious note, this seems like a lateral move to me. Don't really see what Lue offers that Doc didn't. This seems like Balmer feeling forced to fire Doc because of that disastrous Nuggets series (which I agree with, as Doc has had countless years of playoffs futility before that), than in turn not really having a plan after that.
2023 No Top 75 Fantasy Draft Los Angeles Clippers
PG: Dennis Johnson / Jo Jo White / Stephon Marbury
SG: Sidney Moncrief / World B. Free
SF: Chris Mullin / Ron Artest

Jeez, hold a grudge much? Seems like it's been long enough now that people could let go of the bitterness he left us.

Doc clearly went to management and asked out because it was no longer a desirable job. That is what he does. He did the same thing here. The Clippers being willing to oblige is nothing more than doing right by a guy who did a lot for that franchise. They should have played hard ball like Danny and got a pick for him. He steered them through the Sterling fiasco. He made them a perennial playoff team. He put them in a position to where they could be desirable enough to lure Kawhi instead of the Lakers getting him. He's earned every bit of the cache he has around the league.

So yeah, Doc wanting out of that mess of a situation and knowing he could get nearly any job he wants right away is totally the same as getting fired. Sure.....keep your head in the sand.
