Well we knew Julius is playing well.  I did not know we should start calling him Julius Bird now. Maybe Larry Randle.

Randle is currently averaging 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 6.0 assists, to go along with knocking down 40.8 percent of his three-pointers.

And Randle is on pace to become just the second player in NBA history to average 20-10-5 on 40 percent shooting from behind the arc -- Larry Bird pulled off that stat line in his 1984-85 MVP season.

Bird racked up 28.7 points and 6.6 assists, while shooting 42.7 percent from three-point land, so Randle's numbers are lagging behind just a bit.

But any time you're "one of two" and the other is Larry Bird, you're doing something right.

Maybe we can put to rest the ridiculous notion that Marcus Smart is the better player.

I would have probably taken Randle over Smart.  However Randle wasn't clearly the better draft prospect and hasn't been the better NBA player for most of their careers.  Randle is already on his 3rd team in 6 seasons.  He's done nothing so far to contribute to a winning team.  Plenty of players have put up big numbers on bad teams.

I had to click on this thread, because those two names should never be in the same sentence, and I was curious on how they would be linked. Cool stat, but is it too much to ask Randle to help lead a team to the playoffs once?

These ridiculous stats are they by-products of super computers or 24 hr sports media cycles. What next? Tracking stats for performances on Saturdays after a negative week on the Dow Jones Industrial Average?
