Quote

Tyler Ennis has had an excellent freshman season for undefeated Syracuse, showing great instincts as a scorer and point guard.

"If you were to ask me right now whether I'd take Ennis over Kyrie Irving, I think it's Ennis," one GM said. "He does all the things that help a basketball team win basketball games. You can pick him apart on individual flaws, but I would take this kid right now and trust him to run my team. I think there's very few freshmen you could ever say that about."

Ennis is averaging 12.1 points, 5.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.

Well, we all knew there was at least one incompetent GM in the league.

I'm saying Billy King.

I know the story doesn't say it, but I wonder if he is factoring in contract situation.  And clearly this is much more about attitude than skill, which is just silly.  Give Irving a better team foundation and I think a lot of the attitude stuff goes away.

I think it was Chris Grant.  You would hate the guy who is supposed to be a superstar, but who isn't doing anything to save your job too.

perhaps a GM angling to make a trade of a draft pick (or 2) for Kyrie.  Cleveland doesn't appear to be run by rocket scientists so maybe this ploy will work  ;)

I have not seen a lot of Tyler Ennis but over Kyrie?

Kyrie's only flaw is defense, if he fixes that, he's clearly top 5 TALENT.

Whoever this GM is, get out of here...

Ennis has "super-competent but unspectacular backup PG" written all over him to me.  Probably a lot less of a headache than Kyrie, though.  But not nearly in his league.

But I'll say this, guys like Ennis - and CJ Fair to an extent - who are low-mistake, mentally involved but emotionally stable, and have a knack for making bigger plays as the game gets tighter?  Those are some of the most consistently undervalued prospects, year after year.  If they're anywhere near NBA size or athleticism, they're often really valuable players.

Tyler Ennis will never ever be close to the potential Kyrie has.

Plus if Kyrie just improved defense, and was on a better team with more vets to hold his teammates in check, this wouldn't be a discussion.

Most likely Chris Grant, or Billy King hoping to depreciate the value of Irving. Grant is probably saying it though. Superstar PG that can't lead his team to the playoffs, and now you're going to lose your job.

That and the fact that I have no clue who the hell Tyler Ennis is.

The top freshman point guard in the country, who's exceeded all expectations in helping lead #1 and undefeated Syracuse.  He's a good prospect, and someone I'd like the Celtics to look at with their second 1st rounder if he's available.  As good as Kyrie right now?  No, not close.

I like Ennis a lot but this is reaching.  Who knows though, not sure many predicted Trey Burke and MCW would have played as well as they played.

I'm not really a fan of Kyrie. I mean I love the fact hes confident in himself, but there are times where he needs to really stop trying to score, and set up his teammates. Create that chemistry so teammates will play harder, not because you're scoring and taking over the game, but because that is inspiring to them that you're making sure every guy gets his.

Now I don't hate Kyrie, I just think he's heavily overrated by everyone. ESPN once said he was ranked top 5 as PG a year and half ago. Which I almost scoffed at.

But if what Loul Deng said about the team, practice, and everything about the environment. Then I think if this continues, then Kyrie won't ever become the top player he should be unless he forces a trade, or opts out of his contract.
